Cable Slit and Ring Tool
The Cable Slit and Ring Tool is a versatile, precise tool for slitting and ringing the outer sheath of fibre optic cables with diameters between 1.5mm and 7.5mm. Ringing scores the jacket around its circumference, while slitting opens it lengthways, so engineers can remove the sheath cleanly and reach the buffer tubes or fibres beneath without damaging them. An adjustable blade accommodates different cable sizes and sheath thicknesses, making it suitable for drop cables, small-diameter feeder cables and indoor cables alike. Its lightweight, ergonomic body reduces hand fatigue across a full day of terminations, and high-quality materials keep the blade cutting accurately over long-term use. Used alongside a buffer tube scorer, Kevlar® cutters and a fibre stripper, the Cable Slit and Ring Tool gives telecom and data cable installers a fast, repeatable first step in cable preparation, helping to reduce rework and fibre damage on FTTx, FTTH and enterprise network installations.
Applications
Drop cable termination: removing the outer sheath from 1.5–7.5mm drop cables before connectorising or splicing at the customer premises.
Closure and box entry: preparing cable ends for entry into joint closures, aerial distribution boxes and subscriber nodes.
Indoor and data cabling: stripping small-diameter fibre and data cables in comms rooms, risers and MDU installations.
